You might be wondering what other possible reasons you need to love coffee other than its delicious taste and lovely aroma.  Well, it turns out that there are thousands of reasons to love coffee, but we’ve narrowed it down to just a few for why you should feel good about your next cup of coffee.

Studies Say That Coffee Can Be Good for You

After an expert federal panel reviewed dozens of studies analyzing the effects of coffee on a person’s health, they found that moderate consumption of coffee was associated with health benefits, such as a reduced risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease.  While some studies link coffee to heart attacks and hypertension, these studies tend to examine people who drink excessive amounts.  Moderation is key when it comes to coffee, just like anything else.

Presidents Love Coffee

What do former U.S. presidents Ronald Reagan, Bill Clinton, Teddy Roosevelt, and Thomas Jefferson all have in common?  They all loved coffee.  The Presidency is a stressful job and can require some long days at the office, so what better way to push through the day than with coffee?  Theodore Roosevelt reportedly drank a gallon of coffee per day, while Thomas Jefferson deemed it his “favorite drink of the civilized world” and frequently visited coffee houses around the world.

It Can Decrease Risk of Depression in Women

Coffee makes a lot of people in this country very happy, but it can also reduce the risk of depression in women.  A study from the Harvard School of Public Health found that women who drank four or more cups of caffeinated coffee had a 20 percent lower risk of depression than women who drank little or no coffee.  In fact, it has also been linked to lower suicide levels, so drink up and be happy!

We don’t recommend guzzling tons of coffee before your workout, but studies show that not only can coffee help you lose weight, but it can also give your workout a boost.  Coffee helps improve circulation, increase muscle preservation, and give your muscles fuel for the day.  In addition, caffeine is a stimulant that will increase your stamina and adrenaline in your system, making you feel like you can tackle any challenge.

Coffee Has Tons of Antioxidants

A 2005 study at the University of Scranton found that coffee gives us an enormous amount of antioxidants—more than any other dietary source.  According to the research, nothing even comes close.  Many fruits and vegetables have large quantities of antioxidants, as well, but those in coffee seem to be absorbed much more efficiently.  Antioxidants help prevent the damaging effects of oxidative stress and can help prevent many diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, and Alzheimer’s.
